BUILDING PERMIT APPLICATIONS
The Warsaw City Council had an extended discussion at the council meeting concerning building permits, there are too many projects started before applying for a permit. The city does not want to slow down improvements or new construction in the community. The risk of beginning before a permit is approved is if a serious problem develops the city maybe required to have the project altered after the fact. No penalties have been discussed, but everyone needs to step up and follow the procedure on building permits to improve our life and allow us to continue with the present program.Mike Heisler, Mayor
Food Pantry Needs
The Warsaw Township Food Pantry distributes food every second Wednesday of the month between 9 am and 10 am to those living in the Warsaw school district at the Bott Community Center. The St Paul’s Episcopal Church Food Pantry, 240 S 4th Street alley side of church is held the third Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The exception to this is June 6 (1st Saturday). For emergency requests, please call 217-575-0045. We deliver to those who are homebound or cannot carry the food.
The First Warsaw Presbyterian Church, 210 South 4th Street sponsors a Blessing Box located on the north side of the church by the steps. Please feel free to take what you need.
Riverfront Camping
Camping at Riverfront Park is open beginning May 29. Fees for camping can be paid at City Hall by calling 217-256-3214 or there is a drop box at the park. Remember to use social distancing per guidelines. Riverfront park is licensed by the Illinois Health Department.
Warsaw City Hall
To be cautious with dealing in the Covid19 situation the City Hall Lobby is closed until further notice. Please contact City Hall at 217-256-3214 and an appointment can be made for Building Permit applications, ATV, UTV and Golf Cart Licenses, Dog Licenses and any other City Business. Water payments can be dropped off in the drop box or online payments
Warsaw City Hall and Water Department
The Warsaw Water Department is accepting debit/credit cards along with online water bill payments. A payment service fee is added by the Utility Bill Company pending the balance of your bill. Go to https://warsawillinois.azurewebsites.net/ to set up your account.
Water disconnections for bills 60 days past due are scheduled to be shut off on June 25th. There is a $100 reconnection fee to have water service back on. Contact City Hall at 217-256-3214 to make arrangements for payments if needed.

Items which will be collected are:1. Washers
2. Dryers
3. Stoves
4. Water heaters (emptied)
5. Dishwashers
6. Metal-tin, copper, and aluminum
7. Small pieces of lumber
8. Furniture
9. Lawn mowers
10. Refrigerators (emptied and clean)
11.Air conditioners
12. Deep freezers (emptied and clean)
13. Batteries
14. Microwaves
15. Vacuum cleaners
16. Carpet Items which CANNOT be collected are:
1. TV’s
2. Computers and printers
3. Tires
4. Liquids in cans
5. Barrels of ashes, etc.
6. Regular garbage items such as: Garbage, etc.
Hancock County Highway Department, 101 First Street, Carthage, IL will take TV’s, Computers and printers and other electronics. Hours of operation are 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on Friday only.
Items will not be picked up at residence homes. The Central Drop off area is the Warsaw Burn Pile/City Storage Shed on Water Street. The handicap and elderly will be given assistance for pick up items. If you need assistance, contact City Hall at 217-256-3214 by Thursday, September 10, 2020.
A copy of a current Water Bill must be shown at the drop off point. Items will bemonitored and we reserve the right to refuse some items.
